In Year Eight, Baobab Learning Center supported community awareness and dialogue around growing security concerns through inclusive, multi-stakeholder engagement.

- Brought together religious leaders, community leaders, government representatives, and law enforcement, fostering shared understanding and dialogue around security challenges.

International Learning & Cultural Exchange
BLC expanded educational horizons for children by fostering international exchange and cross-cultural learning.
- Established a partnership with a high school in New York, connecting students through language and cultural exchange.
- Facilitated bilingual letter exchanges, with BLC children writing in French and U.S. students responding in English.

Education & Vocational Pathways
BLC expanded opportunities for young adults by connecting youth to education, skills training, and positive pathways during a critical period of vulnerability.
- Connected young adults to internships and vocational training, supporting long-term economic opportunity.
- Convened a youth summit following security incidents near the Center, engaging vulnerable young adults with educators, health practitioners, and community leaders across eight program areas.
- Provided bicycles to 35 teenagers, improving access to high school, training, and educational programs.

Women’s Leadership & Empowerment
In Year Seven, Baobab Learning Center strengthened women’s leadership and economic voice through convening, dialogue, and visibility of local women leaders.
- Hosted an annual women’s conference attended by approximately 150 women, including cooperative members and community participants.
- Focused on women’s roles in society and politics, with sessions on entrepreneurship, microfinance, and peacebuilding.

Clean Energy and Community Health Innovation
In Year Six, Baobab Learning Center advanced sustainability and public health efforts by expanding clean energy infrastructure and introducing innovative, low-cost health solutions while engaging young adults in hands-on technical training.
- Installed solar photovoltaic panels at the main Center and two shea butter and grain processing facilities, strengthening reliable and sustainable energy access.
- Engaged young adults in solar installation work, integrating vocational training into clean energy projects.
- Launched an innovative disinfectant initiative, training staff and young adults to produce low-cost disinfectant using water, salt, and electricity.
- Expanded community health outreach, with young adults supporting disinfectant production, distribution, and public education.

Youth Leadership, Service, and Community Safety
In Year Five, Baobab Learning Center expanded opportunities for young adults and women to lead, serve, and strengthen their communities through education, service projects, and economic and civic engagement.
- Expanded youth service and work opportunities, connecting teens and young adults to internships, stipends, and volunteer roles that support education and community development.
- Engaged young adults in hands-on community projects, including school repairs, public health initiatives, and hospital volunteering.
- Distributed 2,000 donated books, strengthening access to educational resources with support from partners and donors.
- Launched vocational training committees to support vulnerable young adults in accessing education, employment, and skills pathways.
- Convened a women’s conference, creating space for connection, learning, and collective empowerment.
- Installed solar-powered street lighting in four villages, improving safety and security for residents.

Community Resilience and Crisis Response
In Year Four, Baobab Learning Center strengthened education infrastructure, expanded community support, and responded quickly to emerging public health needs across the region.
- Renovated three schools through youth-led projects, including repairs, painting, and installation of doors and windows.
- Improved classroom learning conditions by repairing and building desks, reducing overcrowding to two students per desk, and constructing 10 desks and chairs for teachers.
- Installed solar lighting at the Center and in four surrounding villages, improving safety and access after dark.
- Facilitated public village meetings to strengthen community organization and advocacy around education, water access, and agricultural needs.
- Launched a COVID-19 prevention campaign in the Tominian area, supporting public health efforts through education and local mask production.
- Produced and distributed reusable face masks, making them accessible to the community while generating modest income to support Center operations.

Advancing Women’s Empowerment
In Year Three, Baobab Learning Center deepened its focus on women’s empowerment by expanding economic opportunity, education, and family well-being across the communities it serves.
- Built two mills for shea nuts and grain and trained 100 women in shea nut gathering and high-quality shea butter production.
- Strengthened women’s economic independence through cooperative training in entrepreneurship, micro-financing access, and personal financial management.
- Hosted workshops on women’s rights, including education on the risks of early marriage and the impacts of domestic violence.
- Improved household health and caregiving practices as mothers adopted modern methods for food preparation, hygiene, and childcare.

Expanding Reach and Opportunity
In our second year, Baobab Learning Center expanded its reach, deepened academic support, and strengthened access to education, nutrition, and practical life skills for children, youth, and families.
- Expanded enrollment from 16 to 65 students, including 30 residential students and 35 in day programs, supported through tutoring, nutrition, health care, and a positive learning environment.
- 90 children received tutoring services since 2018, contributing to strong academic performance in local public schools.
- 35 teenagers received bicycles, enabling reliable access to high school, tutoring, and civic education training.
- Children, youth, and mothers learned sustainable gardening practices, strengthening food security, nutrition, and healthy living practices.

Building Strong Foundations
In our first year, Baobab Learning Center focused on creating measurable change across education, community well-being, and economic opportunity. These milestones reflect the lasting impact of our work on children, women, and young adults in the communities we serve.
- 50+ children improved academically, including all 15 children at the Center rising to the top of their classes and 36 village children gaining reading and writing skills through tutoring.
- Women in three villages adopted improved practices in nutrition, hygiene, and childcare, strengthening family and community well-being.
- Monthly community meetings built local advocacy, helping villages organize around education, water access, and agricultural needs.
- Three out-of-school youth completed vocational training, opening pathways to employment and self-sufficiency.
